The story is that claudius had decided that married men made poor soldiers, so he banned marriage from his empire. Valentine didn't agree and would secretly marry young men that came to him. Claudius was less than Happy about this when He found out, and had valentine stoned and beheaded. There's a romantic twist to the story in that while valentine was imprisoned, He fell in love with the blind doughter of His Jailer. Before He was taken to his death, He signed a farewell message to Her,"From your valentine,"The phrase has been used on his day ever since. >Not one but three : The catholic church recognise three saints called valentine-all were martyred on february 14! >Who sent the first card?
