OPTICAL illusions are nothing but the wrong interpretations of our brain about the visual inputs provided by our eyes! So, why does our brain mis-interpret the visual signals of eyes. Although its nature could not analysed up to full extent as there exists lots of phenomenons which could not be explained on the basis of our current scientific knowledge as the brain mechanics is a subject yet to be formalized.
So, "beta version" of the brain mechanics is unable to explain the phenomenon of vision in accurate details.
